During the technology block of their special area instruction, students in preschool are provided with 30 minute class periods in the computer lab. This is a wonderful to get your preschooler using technology! As our children are growing up in the digital age, it's necessary to provide proper and age appropriate instruction utilizing computers. As a mother of a preschooler, I can tell you that you'll be amazed at how much children of this age can do on a computer and how fast they learn!
As part of the preschool technology curriculum, students will receive a fun and hands on introduction to the basic parts of the computer using the correct terminology (mouse, keyboard, monitor). Students will focus on letter and number recognition while learning the function of keys on the keyboard. We will also focus on improving hand-eye coordination which is required to accurately navigate the computer using a mouse. These skills will be taught in a fun and enjoying manner.
As a resource to parents, I will post links to information and websites that you can use at home to reinforce these technology skills! At this age, time spent on the computer should be a fun and family event! Take the time to explore some of these links with your preschooler and have fun learning together!
